Overview
The Reporting Design System (RDS) is a component-based design system I built for enterprise BI and reporting. The brief: bring consistency, accessibility and scalability to over 50 reports across a large organisation, where every team had built their own visual language.
System Architecture
Built in Figma with auto-layout components, semantic colour tokens and structured typography scales — designed to map directly to Power BI's component model for seamless handoff. Every token was named to reflect its semantic purpose, not its visual value, making the system adaptable to future brand changes.
Challenges Solved
Before the RDS: inconsistent branding across 50+ reports, no shared component library, no accessibility standards. After: a single source of truth that reduced report build time by 60%, improved WCAG compliance across all new reports, and set a new bar for how the organisation thinks about data presentation.
